Let the Experience Begin Part 2
Somewhere I have always wanted to travel is New Zealand. A friend I served with at The Well, David Akina, was actually born there and when I told him what I was looking to do he mentioned the possibility of staying with some of his relatives. Several weeks went by and I had not heard anything from Akina and I knew that I had to figure something out quickly becuase my financial situation was on the decline. I found out that another friend, David Obwald, taught swimming in New Zealand for a year so I decided to give him a call. Immediately after I had told Dave what I was looking to do he told me he had someone in mind that I could stay with. It wasn't long after that David called me back with great news. David said he talked with Will Anderson, one of his swim students, and that he would be able to accomodate me. It turns out that Will is from Hawks Bay on the north island of New Zealand but is attending Otago Universtiy in Dunedin, which is on the south island. God had finally opened a door for me and so I immediately capitalized on the situation by selling off posessions, like my 2007 Honda Civic. After I sold my car, which was a miracle how it happened, I found myself with insufficient funds to purchace a plane ticket to New Zealand. Now I had a lot of friends who knew what was going on in my life and that I was planning to move to NZ. God began to provide in the most amazing ways the resources I needed to purchase my ticket. I was able to find work through friends and family which was a tremendous help. Suprisingly though, the majority of the money I received came not from the work I did but rather people wanting to support and bless me as God had laid it on their hearts. On Saturday June 14th after selling some rubbish at a yard sale I finally had enough money to purchase my ticket, so I did, around 3:30 that afternoon.

Sweet as man! Good to hear from you as it's been ages. Hope all is going well with you and your family.
ReplyDeleteCheers mate,
Chris
we are enjoying our white plates...those definately were not rubbish! :) You are missed Chris, we are already looking forward to Christmas. Monday wasn't the same without you...we had to enjoy the bachelorette without you. =( AND we mixed it up, we didn't play ticket to ride, I suprised the group with TWISTER. That was fun and you wouldn't have had to endure another ticket to ride slaughter! hahaha. Anyways, Joel was a punk and was leaning on us girls to make us fall over and so he could win Twister, not to mention the awkward twister moments that happened, I am sure you will see pictures soon...wish you could have been there. And you were missed at Ella's birthday! Yummy costco chocolate cake. I am tellin you all this that you will come back. hahahaha...nah, we all support you, love you, praying for you and hope you are having a blast!
